Description
WALTER CARLOS with BENJAMIN FOLKMAN Switched-On Bach(1968 UK 10-track stereo LP, by the man [pre-Wendy!]responsible for some of the haunting electronic musicinterpretations behind ‘2001’ & ‘A Clockwork Orange’, frontlaminated picture sleeve. This first pressing has the originalsleeve artwork with the seated Bach image. Walter Carloshimself hated this artwork, complaining that it was ‘aclownish, trivializing image of a mugging Bach’, supposedlyhearing some absurd sound fromhis earphones. The fact thatthese were plugged into the input, not the output, of a 914Filter module, which in turn was also connected to nothing, assured that silence was all that would have greeted JohannSebastian’s ears. Subsequent pressings had a similar imagebut with a more serene looking Bach standing in front of thesynthesizer. The sleeve shows just light shelfwear with minorage yellowing to the unlaminated back & the vinyl remains inexcellent conditon with little sign of play)
